Project phases

E-VAT activities will be carried out in three phases. The initial phase will be a reorganization phase not counted against the project lifespan. The E-VAT project life cycle will be on a one year (12months) rolling basis. The first of these rolling years is scheduled to begin in November 2021 and run to the end of October 2022. There will be a mid cycle evaluation at the end of April 2022. The findings will advice on how aligned the project will be to the objectives and gauge adherence to targets. At the end of the project (October 2022) another evaluation will be done to determine attainment of the project overall goals and advice the next rolling cycle.

PHASE I

  • Liaise with the County Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and the Integrated County Approach initiative on proposed aquaponics farming. Secure sharing of the County fish market and the processing through the county fish factory. Set up a field office at Eshishebu village. Mobilize and sensitize the community on importance of aquaponics farming and the need for their participation through ongoing seminars within the community. Enlist willing community members willing to engage in aquaponics. Secure funding opportunities for willing aquaponics farmers.
PHASE II

  • Set up aquaponics farms and seed them with fingerlings.
  • Maintain strict documentation for all E-VAT services and activities 
  • Adhere to scheduled statutory reporting both locally and with donor partners. 
  • Carry out mid cycle evaluation and share the analysis thereof with the social services’ office and the donor community 
  • Use the evaluation findings to advice operations. .
PHASE III

  • Supervise the first harvest and rate production against commercial standards 
  • Advocate for the use of the joint county market for the flock.
  • Maintain strict documentation for all services and activities
  • Adhere to scheduled statutory reporting both locally and with donor partners. 
  • Carry out end of project evaluation and share the analysis thereof with the social services’ office and the donor community. 
  • Supervise the second harvest and its sale.
  • Prepare and present project closing report. 
  • Prepare for the probable rolling cycle
